After dropping my son off at school this morning, something amazing happened. I drove over the bridge to our driveway. I happened to look to the right, and there he sat. The beautiful blue heron that I've obsessed over...for a year now, maybe longer. Everytime I had my camera, he'd fly away too quickly or simply was nowhere in sight. But today, oh today...he let me take several snaps of him. Even turned his head a few times, it's like he was posing for me. He enjoyed the attention perhaps. The waiting and patience paid off. This was no coincidence either...prior to seeing him, my son and I seen them flying over his school.
I thought how amazing it was to see not one, but four of them together like that. I know a lot of times they prefer to be alone. Not today. They glided in the wind and looked so free. It was a moment to remember.
