Commonplacing #001

 What is common placing?

Common placing are books with different interests or information. They're kept in mostly journals/diaries. They were often kept during the Renaissance ages.

Why should you keep a journal? Simply put, because you can. The feel of putting pen to paper is so satisfying. The process of putting your thoughts into a journal gets me all giddy.

I find it super frustrating that even writing is becoming so...digital. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there's plenty of apps out there that can make writing better. But, there's nothing that can top a physical journal.

As far as my journals go, I do different things in different notebooks. For instance, I have one specifically for my photography.(that I'll never share with the world, mind you). I have an A5 Moterm for future blog posts. I have another for art journaling/collages.

Common placing has no boundaries. After all, it's YOUR journal, no one else. People tend to lose sight of that because they think it has to look a certain way or be a certain way. If that's your mindset, you might as well put the pen down. Stop comparing, plain and simple.

I feel like if you're writing everyday, it provides you some mental stability. It's good to write. It's good to read. Do BOTH.
